Kenya puts boots on ground and planes aloft on Somalian front

In the final days of December, Kenya AirForce (KAF) planes were very active on thetense border with neighbouring Somalia,making regular round trips from theKenyan capital Nairobi to the city ofMandera in the north-east of the country.One of its C-27 Spartan cargo planes wasregularly ferrying Kenya Defence Forces(KDF) troops and military equipment fromthe capital to this forward defence post,stopping off on the way at the Nanyuki andWajir military bases. The aerial ballet hasserved to mobilise Kenyan troops, who aremassing in the Mandera region in a tensestandoff with the forces of the SomaliNational Army (SNA).
