OrPower, the Kenyan branch of US company Ormat Technologies, sells is output to public company Kenya Power (KP) at a very handsome price. The US Department of State has been asked by the OECD's Anti-Bribery Convention to open an administrative inquiry into Ormat's contract with Kenya Power. The Nevadabased company, which build and operates the 139 MW Olkaria Ⅲ geothermal power plant, receives $0.12 or each kWh sold to KP, a rate much higher than any of its competitors.
