Amid growing tension, French MP Bruno Fuchs takes pulse of presidential poll

Bruno Fuchs, a Macronist member of France's parliament who has significant experience in Africa (Africa Intelligence, 04/12/19), travelled to Abidjan from 11 to 16 August to discuss the upcoming presidential election with several Ivorian politicians. The MP, who is also deputy speaker of the Francophonie parliamentary assembly, met at length with several senior officials of the Rassemblement des Houphouëtistes Pour la Démocratie et la Paix (RHDP), such as Adama Bictogo, as well as Mamadou Touré and Siandou Fofana, respectively the ministers of youth and tourism. The RHDP is expected to nominate President Alassane Ouattara as its candidate on 22 August.
