MOZAMBIQUE INP roasts ExxonMobil, ENI and Total over local content

According to our sources, representativesof ExxonMobil, ENI and Totalattended several meetings at the InstitutoNacional de Petroleo (INP) headquartersbetween February 4 and 6. The operatorsof blocks 1 and 4, on which nearly 150trillion cubic feet of gas have been discoveredsince 2010, were sharply calledto order by the INP. The institute, led byCarlos Zacarias, reprimanded the threeoil and gas majors for failing to respectthe country’s local content laws enactedby decree several years ago. It alsoreminded them that they must alsoadhere to the requirement to facilitateMozambican entrepreneurs’ access totheir subcontractors. The oil services firmsTechnipFMC, Saipem and Fluor currentlycontracted by the majors for the developmentof both onshore and offshoreprojects are also bound to the same localcontent regulations.
