US tests submarine- launched UAV

The US Navy has conducted a test, launching an ISR UAV from a submerged submarine in a demonstration in the Bahamas. The electric-powered, folding-wing XFC UAS (experimental Fuel Cell Unmanned Aerial System) was launched from a Los Angeies class submarine USS Providence, using a 'Sea Robin' canister which floated to the surface and allowed the UAV to deploy and take-off. The compact canister-launched XFC has an endurance of six hours.
