Airbus A380 - Super jumbo or white elephant?

Howard Wheeldon's Antenna piece in the March edition, largely focused on the A380. As one who was part of the British Caledonian short-haul aircraft replacement evaluation team, I was always extremely proud of our role in ordering the first ten Airbus A320s and its pan-European heritage and being the launch customer with Air France. The A320 has gone on to become one of the most successful commercial transports ever produced, along with the Boeing 737 and its derivatives.
