For safe air travel, extra electronic components are being added that require more power density (higher energy per weight). Current accidents reveal the importance of improving avionics systems. An investigation of causes of aircraft accidents reveal that 10% are on ground, 30% during takeoff, 10% in normal fight, and 50% caused during landing [1]. In particular, investigations show that slightly more than 50% of accidents are generally attributed to pilot error, while more than 20% of these aircraft accidents are caused by technical failures. With the advent of fly-by-wire aircraft, both the pilot and avionics equipment will have a growing demand for onboard energy to maintain equipment, afford advanced diagnostics, and provide communications to prevent accidents.
