Back-to-back growth years for space launches

In 2007 the launch services industry posted its second consecutive year of growth in the number of orbital launches attempted. This marks the first time in a decade that there have been two straight years of growth. A total of 68 launches were attempted last year, compared to 66 in 2006. The last time there were more launches was in 2000, when 85 missions were attempted worldwide. Since then, the annual launch count has mostly hovered in the mid-50s or low 60s, with the exception of 2006-2007. So there is a positive trend occurring in the market.
