On august 7 a Hawker Horsley of 504 {County of Nottingham) Sqn hit the corner of a disused shed at Hawkinge aerodrome, near Folkestone, when coming in to land, and then fell on to the roof of an adjoining shed in which were six Hawker Furies of No 25 Sqn. The shed was set on fire and the Horsley and the six Furies were destroyed.rnAccording to reports the pilot fell through the roof of the shed on to the concrete floor and the observer jumped into a sheet held by rescuers. Both were injured, but were safely removed from the shed by men of 25 Sqn before the fire spread.
