Structurally, the first two W.34 prototypes, TS371 and TS375, were typical of their era, being of light-alloy stressed-skin construction. The fuselage was in three sections; the engine-mounting structure forward of the firewall, the centre fuselage with the integral wing centre-section and the rear fuselage with the integral fin. There was a transport joint midway along the rear fuselage section. The engine-mounting in the airframes powered by the Rolls-Royce Eagle consisted of a tubular-steel structure attached to the firewall bulkhead and the wing's front spar. Engine-cooling air was admitted through apertures in the nose cowling, with another below the propellers ducting air to the carburettor.
