CHRIS FARARA describes the type's service career.rnThe first sea fury Mk X was accepted in February 1947 by 778 Sqn FAA at Royal Naval Air Station (RNAS) Ford, the typernConversion and Training Unit. Three aircraft were used: TF905, '906 and '907. In September 1947 807 Sqn became the first operational Sea Fury squadron when its Seafire Mk XVIIs were replaced by Sea Fury MkXs.rnIn all, 27 FAA squadrons, five Royal Volunteer Navy Reserve (RNVR) squadrons and 15 secondary units flew Sea Furies. The FB.11 entered service in May 1948 with 802 Sqn.
