Australia is blessed with a remarkable diversity of rare historic aircraft, and one of the key organisations that aim to support them is the Antique Aeroplane Association of Australia, known informally to all as "the Antiquers". It's a national organization which promotes the preservation, rebuilding and above all flying of old aeroplanes, both civil and military. This friendly organisation has an annual long-weekend fly-in, normally on the historically significant Anzac holiday, but this year it was held on April 1 -3. The venue was the Victorian border town of Echuca, famous as Australia's paddle-boat capital. It was blessed with a huge turnout of aircraft from all over Australia - even from the far Western Australian coast, 1,600 miles away.
