Many readers will be familiar with Ad Hoe's "From the cockpit" series. This one, No 12, covers a favourite naval fighter, and who better to write it than the author, who accumulated 786hr and 272 deck landings on the type, from a [total of 4,500hrand 670 deck landings. His enthusiasm and affection for the Hawker Sea Fury is very obvious. There were a number of engine failures in the early days of Sea Fury operations; in the first 50 delivered to the navy there were 15 and four pilots were lost, and the rocket-assisted take-offs could be hazardous if the rockets did not fire simultaneously. A number of photographs show aircraft in embarrassing circumstances involving carrier landings, and Korean operations are described and illustrated.
