Rare DST repainted

A rare Douglas Sleeper Transport (DST), one of only seven survivors of 40 built, was being repainted at Schellville airport in northern California, USA, duringjanuary. Owned by Lee Schaller, N139D has been at Schellville for more than a quarter of a century, but has not been flown for many years. Delivered to American Airlines as NC21752 in 1939 with the fleet name Memphis, in 1942 it was one of 22 DSTs converted to Douglas C-49E configuration for the USAAF, fitted out for medical duties to carry 14 stretcher cases.
