Threatened airfields look to heritage

Two historic airfields, each threatened by separate plans for major housing development to take over their land, are hoping that their aviation heritage links may help save them from closure, reports Steve Slater. Panshanger in Hertfordshire and Bourn in Cambridgeshire have both been named by their local authorities as potential locations for major housing development to meet Government targets, but airfield users and local residents groups have in both cases combined forces to lobby for a change of plan.
