Canberra flies at Kemble

On July 19, Midair Squadron's English Electric Canberra PR.9 XH134 flew again with former 39 Sqn pilot David Piper at the controls, following a two year rebuild with Vintage Flyers at Kemble Airport, Gloucestershire. It had arrived at Kemble in August 2006, shortly after retirement from service with 39 Sqn at Marham. The"hemp"-camouflaged machine is the only airworthy Canberra in the UK, no example of the type having flown in the UK since July 2007, when Air Atlantique's Canberra B.2 suffered engine damage in a bird strike while departing from Coventry for a show appearance.
