After 47 years service with the RAF, Vickers VC10 C.1K XR808 was flown into retirement at Bruntingthorpe, Leicestershire, on July 29, 2013, by a 101 Sqn crew from RAF Brize Norton. It had been expected that XR808 would be flown to the RAF Museum at Cosford, though an RAF Museum spokesman told Aeroplane: "Work is ongoing to secure the acquisition of a VC10 for the RAF Museum permanent collection at Cosford." Originally delivered to 10 Sqn at RAF Fairford during the summer of 1966, XR808 was the last C.1K in service, and the longest lived of the RAF VC10s, having flown more than 43,865hr on air-to-air refuelling, passenger, freighter and VIP work.
