At the Gothaer Fahrzeugtechnik GmbH, in the city of Gotha, central Germany, the reconstruction of the world's sole surviving Gotha Go 145 is now under way. The fuselage, which had previously been on show in a beer garden near Munich Airport, had arrived back in the city of its birth in October 2010. Unfortunately, the steel-tube construction was not in such good condition as hoped, and was badly corroded and seriously out of true. The owner of the original fuselage, in cooperation with the Saxon Club for Historic Aircraft in Dresden, has decided to build a new fuselage using the original as a pattern, with reference to some drawings that are still available, and a host of photographs.
