Steve Slater's 'insider' comment on the historic aviation world

I don't think I have ever seen such an assembly of vintage aircraft engineering talent as at Duxford's Marshall Auditorium at the beginning of February. They were there for serious business too, a meeting called by the Historic Aircraft Association which had invited senior management from the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to discuss a future strategy for the survival of the British aircraft restoration industry. Many within the UK restoration world feel strongly that they cannot afford to continue with current CAA safety regulations which are based on the commercial air carrier model. They are seeking the revision of airworthiness rules and regulations to achieve sensible safety levels at affordable cost.
