At Toulouse/Blagnac, a team from the Ailes Anciennes Toulouse is pressing on with the only full restoration ever attempted on one of the post-war transport leviathans, a Breguet 765 "Deux-Ponts". Work began way back in 1987 after the aircraft was rescued from Evreux air base in Northern France where it was destined to end its days during fire-fighter training. The move alone took two years! Work is currently ongoing on the fuselage structure and the engine nacelles. The small team dedicated to this giant aircraft has completed the restoration of the outer wings, fins, rudders, undercarriage bays and parts of the cockpit. One of the aircraft's four Pratt & Whitney R-2800 engines has also been rebuilt and is displayed in a building close by.
