Known by many as the ultimate piston-engined fighter, the Hawker Sea Fury was the choice of numerous post-war forces, including the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN). To replace the ageing Supermarine Seafire the Canadian government purchased 74 Sea Furies and the first example was taken on strength in May 1948.
