Although the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings has come and gone, and the Normandy Veterans Association will soon be stood down, it is unlikely that anyone who witnessed the commemorations in early June will ever forget the experience. For a while at least, those embroiled in debate about modern values in the UK must surely have felt a greater sense of optimism for our future.
