Technical descriptions of the new Moth appeared in all the aviation papers when thefirst example made its maiden flight, but perhaps the best appeared a little after the initial euphoria, when the correspondent had had time carefully to distil a considered review. His work was published towards the end of 1925 in The Automobile Engineer. "The fuselage construction follows very closely normal de Havilland practice, being three-ply covering on spruce longerons and web-member bracing. "The wing structure follows normal practice and is of the single bay type. All structural members are of spruce, streamline wires being used externally and flexible cables internally for tension bracing. "The extension wings have been designed to fold back, thereby enabling the machine to be wheeled through a doorway ten feet wide. The folding gear is of the simplest order, it being only necessary to clip the two jury struts into position, withdraw the four spring-loaded locking bolts, and fold the wings back, locking them in position by special catches provided.
