Canadian Spitfire flight imminent

At Gatineau Airport, Quebec, the Vintage Wings of Canada Spitfire IX TE294 was expected to fly by Remembrance Day, 11 November. Once this aircraft is flying the other VWoC Spitfire, MkXVI SL721, will be sold. The aircraft has been named by VWoC as 'The Fit Lt Arnold Roseland Spitfire', honouring the leader of'B' Flight, No 442 Squadron, who flew more than 65 operational Spitfire missions. He destroyed two Focke-Wulf Fw 190s on one sortie above the Normandy beach-heads before being shot down during a dogfight over the village of Saint-Martin-de-Maillocon 13 July 1944.
