Rare viewing of German private collection

On show during May was collector Jens Grosse-Kampmann's Westphalia-based private collection of aviation artefacts. The undoubted star is a Heinkel He 162 replica, the fuselage of which incorporates a large number of original parts collected over many years by the owner. Only the wooden wing of this 'Volksjager' was completely new-build, and this was done in accordance with original plans. Grosse-Kampmann's Fw 190 fuselage was available for viewing too. The basic structure has been built by a specialist engineering contractor, onto which a wealth of authentic original parts have been added.
