The extract we ran from this title in our June issue offers a taste of what to expect. The late Air Cdre Alastair Panton was a 23-year-old flying officer in 1940, serving with No 53 Squadron on the Blenheim IV in the reconnaissance role and deployed to France as part of the Advanced Air Striking Forces. Some years afterwards, he wrote up his experiences; they went on to be published by Biteback in 2014, and have just been brought out in a new edition by Penguin.
