FIT for the FUTURE

The Navy Wings Heritage Flight, the Fleet Air Arm's historic aircraft operation, has had something of a tumultuous time. While working through a far-from-straightforward transition from the military realm to the civilian, the flight has been unlucky to suffer accidents causing significant damage to two of its aeroplanes. To add to the challenges, in a further blow to fundraising, the COVID-19 pandemic virtually wiped out the 2020 and 2021 display seasons. A visit to the charity's hangar at RNAS Yeovilton, however, revealed an upbeat attitude and a great deal of progress in restoring the Heritage Flight to rude health. New aircraft have been added to the collection, existing ones are transferring to civil regulation, and the mix of veteran and new personnel are looking forward to 2022.
