Oshkosh winning P-51D to Germany

In early March, North American P-51D Mustang 44-74453/N51ZA - which scooped the award for best P-51 at the Experimental Aircraft Association AirVenture show at Oshkosh in August 2019 - arrived in the MeierMotors hangar at Bremgarten, southwest Germany. Recently acquired by German Harvard and Stearman owner and display pilot Georg Raab from Louisville, Colorado-based pilot Carl Patrick, the Mustang also earned for Midwest Aero Restorations of Danville, Illinois a Silver Wrench award at Oshkosh for their expert work on the aeroplane. The former Royal Canadian Air Force fighter, serialled RCAF 9597with that air arm, is the eighth Mustang to be entrusted to MeierMotors since the company was set up during October 2006.
