A winding head for a cheese-producing textile machine is the subject of US Patent 6 702 223. The Patent's German assignee, W. Schlafhorst AG & Co, says the invention includes a number of devices to fulfil several functions: 1. accurately determining the length of yarn travelling through the measuring head; 2. accumulating the yarn lengths that have passed; 3. determining the yarn length portions that are removed in the course of connecting processes.
