Commercial launch of polyester nanofibre by Teijin Fibers

Teijin Fibers is to begin the commercial production of a high-strength polyester nanofibre called Nanofront at its Matsuyama plant in Japan. Initially,Teijin will make 25 t a month of the fibre at a gauge of 700 nm. Nevertheless, plans already exist to increase this to 100 t a month and to add a 300 nm gauge. The company anticipates eventual annual sales of ￥ 10 billion for this product, which it describes as "resistant to slippage, yet delicate and comfortable, while ensuring high absorbency and opaqueness". It is expected to be used for a wide range of applications ranging from clothifig to industrial materials and is the subject of 40 patent applications.
