Optically Transparent Wood: Recent Progress, Opportunities, and Challenges

摘要

Transparent wood is an emerging load-bearing material reinvented fromrnnatural wood scaffolds with added light management functionalities. Suchrnmaterial shows promising properties for buildings and related structuralrnapplications, including its renewable and abundant origin, interesting opticalrnproperties, outstanding mechanical performance, low density, low thermalrnconductivity, and great potential for multifunctionalization. In this study, arndetailed summary of recent progress on the transparent wood research topicrnis presented. Remaining questions and challenges related to transparentrnwood preparation, optical property measurements, and transparent woodrnmodification and applications are discussed.
