ABOUT THE GOOGLE LUNAR X PRIZE

The 30 million dollar Google Lunar X PRIZE is an unprecedented international competition thatrnchallenges engineers, and entrepreneurs from around the world to develop low-cost methods ofrnrobotic space exploration. The 30 million dollar prize purse is segmented into a 20 million dollarrnGrand, Prize, a five million dollar Grand Prize, and five million dollars in bonus prizes. To win, a team must successfully soft land a privatelyrnfunded spacecraft on the Moon, explore the lunar surface by moving for a minimum of 500 meters (-1/3 of a mile), and,transmit a specificrnset of video, images, and data back to the Earth.
