Nss also suffered the recent loss of Konrad Dannenberg, a rocket propulsion pioneer who was one of the original members of Wernher von Braun's German rocket team and a charter member of the L-5 Society, now known as the National Space Society. His contributions to rocketry and propulsion were a cornerstone of the nation's space program for decades. After his retirement from NASA, he conducted a 35-year-long second career dedicated to passing on his passion for space to future generations. Konrad died in Huntsville, Alabama, on February 16, 2009. He will be sorely missed by the space community.
