A look at just three of the region's terminals indicate that that the spirit of investment and confidence in the future is gaining ground rather than diminishing Colombia's privately-owned SPRC Container Terminal in the Port of Cartagena, which handles around 500,000 TEU annually, has been investing considerable amounts of money in order to position itself as "a Caribbean hub and one of the best and most efficient options in the region for receiving larger container vessels", according to a management statement. The investment programme includes new equipment, the expansion and improvement of existing infrastructure facilities and the modernisation of information and communication systems.
