INSTANT AWARENESS: EBSCO'S LIBRARYAWARE™AND MARKETING YOUR LIBRARY'S SERVICES

The NHC-PL staff has been using LibraryAware™ for several months with success and ease. The consumer-health librarian was able to assemble an attractive virtual flyer using one of the templates available for an upcoming speaker directly from her LibraryAware™ account, and he sent an e-mail to the speaker with the flyer for his feedback and comments. Suggested changes were made quickly and then e-mailed to the speaker again for approval. LibraryAware™ is a way for librarian subject specialists to use their knowledge to customize content of marketing materials themselves, which is useful especially for smaller library systems that do not have a dedicated marketing staff member. Because younger library patrons are avid users of social media, this is an ideal way to integrate library marketing and programming into those venues to grab their attention and boost the library's profile to that demographic. Librarians can contact EBSCO for a trial run of this product, and the site has excellent support materials for any questions that may arise.
