This book is geared toward scholars, practitioners, and decision-makers working with digital content and culture in memory institutions. The phrase "memory institutions" is used throughout to refer to a common aspiration across multiple sectors in organizing, making available, and preserving the intellectual and cultural records of their societies. The acronym used to identify many of these organizations is GLAM (galleries, libraries, archives, and museums). While the focus of this book refers to initiatives and developments in the United Kingdom and Europe, much of the content is also applicable and of interest to those working in these areas and topics in the United States.
