摘要

Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) has many applications innscience, medicine, and technology. Conventional instrumen-ntation is large and expensive, however, because superconduct-ning magnets offer maximum sensitivity. Yet NMR devices can alsonbe small and inexpensive if permanent magnets are used, andnsamples need not be placed within the magnet but can be exam-nined externally in the stray magnetic field. Mobile stray-field NMRnis a method of growing interest for nondestructive testing of andiverse range of materials and processes. A well-known stray-nfield sensor is the commercially available NMR-MOUSE, which isnsmall and can readily be carried to an object to be studied.
