摘要

Having trained as an accountant, Meriel Rosser gave it all up to work for the charity Medecins Sans Frontieres in some of the most troubled areas of the world. In 2000, Meriel Rosser left her accountancy job as an assistant manager at KPMG and signed up to work for the humanitarian aid agency Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF). Five years on, her work with the medical organisation has taken her to India, Indonesia, Liberia and Sudan, in a series of increasingly challenging roles. She has just returned from the Darfur region of Sudan, where she coordinated a huge programme to bring emergency medical relief to a region decimated by brutal conflict since 2003. 'The scale of the project was unlike anything I had worked on before,' says Rosser.'At one point I was managing 80 international MSF staff and 1,500 Sudanese staff- a huge responsibility. It was incredibly exhausting and a very intense experience. I have never been so tired in my life. But doing this sort of work is addictive.'
