Stopping to think is always one of the most important principles of management. Few people do it, of course. It is always far more exciting to plunge ahead with crisis management or the launch of a new initiative. In the days when IBM was a world leader there was a rule that anyone in an IBM workplace should be able to see a simple sign with the word 'Think' on it from where they worked.
