The UK is on the brink of a financial skills crisis that could jeopardise the quality of financial information, according to the ACCA. It argues that to fight the looming skills shortage, accountants must play a part in the government's education and skills policies. Speaking at the launch of the body's skills manifesto, Clare Minchington, the ACCA's managing director of education, learning and development, said:'An increase in world trade and regulation has created high demand for professionally qualified accountants. But the supply has not met this demand, leading to a shortage of finance professionals required to support the growth of the world's major economies.'
