Lowth follows in Symonds' footsteps

Simon Lowth starts his new job as chief financial officer of AstraZeneca this month, picking up the reins from highly regarded outgoing CFO Jon Symonds. Lowth, 46, a former director with management consultancy McKinsey & Company, joins the Pharmaceuticals giant from Scottish Power where he was finance director and in charge of the group's performance and risk management processes. Symonds, 48, who has now joined investment bank Goldman Sachs as a managing director, is a former chairman of the 100 Group of finance directors.
