摘要

Hadlow College was on the brink of financial failure. Michelle Perry explains how chartered accountant Mark Lumsdon-Taylor helped turn the situation around. Youth has the luxury of recklessness. Perhaps that is why, when appointed acting finance director of the then embattled Hadlow College, Mark Lumsdon-Taylor, then aged 28, was able to take huge risks in re-establishing the 100-year-old college as one of the UK's prime educational institutions, with a profitable business and a surplus in the accounts. In these risk-averse times of business, it's refreshing to hear a success story like Hadlow's and not surprisingly, Lumsdon-Taylor would do it all again. Having gone into accountancy more by default than design, Lumsdon-Taylor has certainly made the most of his skills and knowledge in accountancy and business and achieved what many accountants strive to do all their lives - test their abilities to the limit by successfully turning around an organisation teetering on the brink of failure.
