The latest quarterly ICAEW Business Confidence Monitor indicates that although confidence is at an all-time low, the UK will avoid recession. Over the last quarter, the confidence index fell from -3.9 to -7.2 - its lowest level since the survey began.The credit crunch, a possible recession in the US and a slowing housing market have all contributed to a decline in confidence among UK finance professionals, particularly those working in the banking, finance and insurance sectors.
