To the YouTube generation, John Landis is known as the Hollywood director of Michael Jackson's 1982 groundbreaking Thriller video. A 2007 YouTube tribute by Filipino prison inmates had earned over 25m views by the time the singer died in June this year. At that point, the original once again went global on major news channels.
