CARING IN THE COMMUNITY

Fixated on fiscal affairs? Preoccupied by pecuniary policy? Engrossed in economics? It is surely time to demolish the myth that as accountants we live holed up in darkened rooms, myopically counting gold coins into towers of different statures, for hours on end. We have hearts. We are blessed with altruistic souls. And this is why I was proud to accept the honour of involvement in my firm's 'Community Day'this year. Besides, with a day out of the office that culminated in a free drinks event, what had I to lose?rnA range of activities were on offer: a day spent painting a community centre; weeding in a graveyard; litter picking; or a day spent with elderly people in a care home. It might rain and I have a tea habit. I plumped for the care home.
