It was billed as the global language for financial reporting but iXBRL is running into problems, at least in the UK. Exchequer secretary to the Treasury David Gauke last month rejected calls to delay the implementation of iXBRL. He insisted that the mandatory use of the filing software for filing company tax returns will begin from 1 April after six accounting institutes had written asking for a delay in the introduction of the measure.
