DOING IT FOR THE KIDS

This month we publish the names of 1,845 individuals (see p57) who have met the stringent standards required of them by the ICAEW and earned the badge of chartered accountant. Among their number, almost certainly, are future Big Four partners, FTSE finance directors and CEOs. They might include prospective MPs, perhaps even a future prime minister. They are already mostly on salaries of between ￡40k and ￡50k and many will expect to take home six-figure pay packets one day. All of which makes the average student debt of ￡13,000, which they probably left university with, pale somewhat into significance.
