DEMAND FOR FINANCE AND ACCOUNTANCY STAFF FALLS

A weakening UK labour market - especially for the finance and accountancy sectors - has been revealed in a report showing falling demand for full-time and temporary staff. With unemployment at over 2.5m, the latest monthly survey from the Recruitment & Employment Confederation and KPMG showed a successive fall in permanent placements and the first collapse in the use of temps for nearly two and a half years. The REC pointed to the ongoing eurozone crisis for the reluctance of employers to hire, but said the outlook for jobs was not as bleak as it was during the depths of the recession in 2009.
