WORKING ABROAD PROVIDES CAREER BOOST FOR ACCOUNTANTS

Accountants consider overseas work experience as more beneficial for career progression than working long hours, according to a recent poll. The survey by recruitment consultants Robert Walters found that over half of the accountants questioned believed working abroad was 'essential' or 'extremely useful' in contrast to banking professionals (38%), lawyers (46%) and IT workers (44%). The big advantages of overseas work were cited as international exposure and professional experience. Andrew Setchell, director of commerce at Robert Walters, said: 'Recruiting employers in the UK certainly value overseas experience as it arms [candidates] with a varied experience and skillset that will be valuable in the future and broadens their commercial insight.'
