The Chartered Accountants' Benevolent Association has identified four recommendations to help jobless accountants in their search for work. The organisation has seen an upsurge in requests for help from unemployed accountants, with the problem being especially acute for those in their 50s and 60s. Top tips include networking whenever possible, improving your online presence through sites such as Linkedln, emphasising 'soft' people skills and adequately researching potential employers. Kath Haines, chief executive at CABA, said: 'The underlying issue is that there are probably still more unemployed accountants than vacancies and this is not a situation that is likely to change soon.'
